The international locations for the 2025 League of Legends tournaments have been announced, marking a major milestone in esports event planning. On November 1st, Chris Greeley, Global Head of League of Legends Esports Strategy, revealed the official venues during the Worlds 2024 Media Day. The First Stand will be hosted at LoL Park in South Korea, while the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is set to take place in Canada, and the World Championship (Worlds) will be held in Chengdu, China.
Expressing his excitement over MSI 2025’s return to North America, Greeley stated, “After the second split, I’m thrilled to announce that the MSI will be hosted in Canada. It’s been a long time since we’ve held a League of Legends tournament in Canada, and I’m pleased to once again bring an international competition to North American fans.”
Further elaborating on Chengdu as the choice for Worlds 2025, Greeley explained, “Following the remarkable atmosphere and passionate fanbase we witnessed at MSI 2024, along with the outstanding hospitality, Chengdu proved itself as the ideal location for the upcoming Worlds. This city has demonstrated its capacity to be a prime stage for international competition.”
The choice of Chengdu comes after the city left a lasting impression during the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational, where both fans and players were met with a warm reception and high-quality event management. These aspects contributed to the city being selected as a repeat host, with organizers expecting a similar, if not even more vibrant, environment for the 2025 World Championship.
By hosting events across multiple continents, League of Legends continues to foster a truly global competitive scene. This approach allows diverse fanbases to experience the excitement of live esports events firsthand, solidifying League of Legends as a global esports powerhouse.
In addition to its international fan outreach, the 2025 events are expected to leverage advanced broadcasting technologies to provide fans worldwide with an immersive viewing experience. Organizers are also focused on integrating in-person fan experiences with digital engagement, allowing fans who can’t attend to participate virtually.
The esports community is eagerly awaiting these events, with the international tournament series set to deliver intense matches, cultural celebrations, and opportunities for fans across the globe to come together. League of Legends’ approach to rotating event locations highlights its dedication to its global community and the continually growing esports ecosystem.
As the esports industry expands, these international events reflect League of Legends’ ongoing commitment to providing premier competition on a worldwide scale, uniting fans and players alike in a shared passion for the game.
