Amid recent contract negotiations and member transitions, SM Entertainment confirmed that EXO will persist as an eight-member group. The agency assured fans that the veteran idol band will continue to produce new music and deliver performances.
The announcement comes after a period of conflict between the three members, Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen, and SM Entertainment over contractual matters. Citing the label's alleged negligence in providing proper materials for payment, the trio reached an agreement in June, just before the release of EXO's seventh full-length album, "Exist."
In light of these developments, Baekhyun has chosen to establish his independent company, INB100, while another member, D.O., opted to leave SM Entertainment and join a different new agency. These changes mark a significant chapter for the individual members within the larger narrative of EXO's enduring presence in the K-pop landscape.
