Director Hwang Dong-hyuk officially announced the return of the global phenomenon "Squid Game" for a second season during a recent meeting with reporters at a filming location in Chungcheong Province. The acclaimed director revealed that Season 2, currently in production since July, will introduce fresh characters and games to enhance the series' storytelling.

"We have been shooting Season 2 since July amid great interest and support," said Hwang. "You can look forward to Season 2 delivering a deeper story and messages with new games and new characters." Despite the weight of expectations, he expressed his commitment to creating a compelling series to repay the global audience eagerly anticipating the next installment.
Journalists, granted access to Season 2's filming sets, had not been allowed during the production of the first season due to pandemic restrictions. Art director Chae Kyung-sun, present at the event, emphasized the dedicated efforts of the entire art team to ensure the success of the series' second installment.
"I feel heavy pressure to live up to expectations," Chae remarked. "Everyone in the art team is working hard to realize the director's vision and the series' theme."
The filming for "Squid Game" Season 2 is set to continue until the next year, with no official release date announced as of now.
