Q. Hello I am here with artist Koo Sang Hee today
Could you please briefly introduce yourself for SayArt readers?

- Hi I am a painting artist Koo Sang Hee
Let’s say my artwork can hang in the corner that is alienates spaces or edges. And the work that I recently painted is that it doesn’t finish itself on the screen.
It formats on the boundary of the screen. The drops on my artwork are my points

Q. I am showing through the screen, but before she worked that suit for corners or edges and it changed as time goes by.
Frankly speaking, Frieze is being carried out simultaneously as Kiaf in the world that opened in Korea. Have you considered anything to make the process to open in this specific time?

-Well, I do not necessarily have to work for this space but as I continue to work, I mean, there are various parts of my work, but I would say that my goal to achieve in my life is to become an artist who can continue.
So my goal is to experiment hard and show my progress little by little.

Q. When viewers looking at your artwork, is there any message that you hope that viewers feel?
-Generally works proceed in the screen but when you see my artwork from the side, of course there are many artists who works on sides. But mine is crossed the boundary from side to center. so, the ‘frame’ which never can take a viewer’s attention, and that is the point of my work
Thank you very much. I hope you have a good success. I appreciate it.

Artist Statement
From a center-oriented perspective, corners and edges are
often neglected and unseen. Frames of a painting are seen
as a mere auxiliary to the canvas. Koo's work began from
realizing this marginalized space. Mundane frames
were revived colorful, as corners and edges became the source of
a palette of colors.

The perspective of the work flows to the peripherals.
The flow also is the gravity and temporality of the subconscious.
Paint crosses the boundaries of the    canvas.
The impression of colors reaches climax at the end of the canvas, the droplets.
They dwell on the edges.

The droplets drop. They make themselves home at their new settlement, called floor.
They live somewhere beyond, beyond the canvas and beyond the frame.

The beauty of peripherals in Koo's work tries to tackle a men's ironic affection toward centralization.
The center of the canvas of Koo's work is often filled with inverted images and texts.
