The Cultural Heritage Administration said Wednesday June 20th at a press meeting in Jung-gu, Seoul, that the 2023 World Heritage Festival will take place in eight cities from July to October. The festival, which started in 2020, is meant to encourage people to visit the UNESCO world heritage sites in Korea and take part in performances, activities, and exhibitions that help people understand the worth and importance of the sites.

문화재청 에서는 6월 20일 수요일 서울 중구에서 기자간담회를 열어 2023년 세계유산축제를 7월부터 10월까지 8개 도시에서 개최한다고 밝혔습니다.
2020년부터 시작된 이 축제는 한국의 유네스코 세계문화유산을 방문하고, 문화유산의 가치와 중요성을 이해하는 데 도움이 되는 공연, 활동, 전시 참여를 장려하기 위한 것입니다.

This year's event will take place in Gongju and Buyeo in South Chungcheong Province, Iksan in North Jeolla Province, Suncheon in South Jeolla Province, Suwon in Gyeonggi Province, and Jeju Island. It will be put on by the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation. After the Korean tide flats, called "getbol," were added to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list in 2021, Suncheon will take part in the festival for the first time.

올해 행사는 충남 공주·부여, 전북 익산, 전남 순천, 경기 수원, 제주도에서 열립니다. 주최는 한국문화재재단에서 맡게 됩니다. 2021년 한국의 “갯벌”이 유네스코 세계자연유산에 등재된 후 순천이 처음으로 축제에 참여합니다.

The festival will start on July 7 in Gongju, Buyeo, and Iksan, which are all Baekje Historic Areas. The theme of the festival is "Engraving Baekje's Values." At the Gongsanseong Fortress in Gongju, there will be a celebration to start things off.

백제역사유적지구인 공주·부여·익산 일대에서 7일부터 축제가 시작됩니다. 축제의 주제는 '백제의 가치를 새기다' 이며 공주 공산성에서 축제의 시작을 알립니다.

From July 7 to July 23, a number of events will be held at places in all three cities, such as the Gongsanseong Fortress and the Tomb of King Muryeong in Gongju, the Jeongnimsa Temple Site and Naseong in Buyeo, and the Mireuksa Temple Site and the Wanggung-ri archaeological site in Iksan.
7월 7일부터 7월 23일까지 공주의 공산성과 무령왕릉, 부여의 정림사와 나성, 익산의 왕궁리 유적, 위 세개의 도시에서 여러가지 이벤트들이 열릴것입니다.

As a prelude to the festival, the "International Sculpture Symposium on Baekje World Heritage" will show works by 12 artists from 12 countries on the theme of Baekjae from Friday to July 6 at Jeongnimsa.

축제의 서막으로 열리는 '백제 세계유산 국제조각심포지엄'은 12개국 12명의 작가가 백제를 주제로 한 작품을 7월 6일 금요일부터 정림사에서 선보일 예정입니다.

The festival will have a wide range of activities from the towns that are taking part, such as media art shows, performances without words, camping programs, and walking tours at night. In August, there will be walking trips along Suncheon's getbol paths, as well as a mind-healing program from August 5 to 31.

또한 미디어아트쇼 퍼포먼스, 캠핑 프로그램, 야간 워킹 투어 등 참여 마을의 다양한 활동이 펼쳐질 예정이입니다. 8월에는 5일부터 31일까지 순천 갯벌길 걷기여행과 마음힐링 프로그램이 진행됩니다.

As part of Suwon City's plan to make people more aware of climate change, an educational event will run from Sept.23 to Oct.14 at Jangan Park. The event, called "The Guardians of Suwon Hwaseong," will show historical records and ideas for keeping the fortress's environment healthy, as well as a pop-up market called "Peace and Harmony Market" that looks at ways to reduce waste.

수원시가 기후변화에 대한 경각심을 일깨우기 위한 일환으로 9월 23일부터 10월 14일까지 장안공원에서 교육행사를 엽니다. '수원화성의 수호자'라는 이름으로 진행되는 이번 행사에서는 수원화성 환경을 건강하게 지키기 위한 역사적 기록과 아이디어, 쓰레기를 줄이는 방법을 모색하는 팝업마켓 '평화 화합마켓' 등을 선보입니다.

From October 3 to 8, Jeju Island will host an event called "Coexistence: Living with Heritage." Residents of Jeju will put together two walking tours and a village tour program to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the event.
