Architecture Discipline has announced a new video competition titled 'Deconstruct a Landmark,' inviting students and young professionals worldwide to explore and interpret the landmarks that shape our communities. The open call challenges participants to create compelling 30-60 second videos that reveal the essence, context, and emotional significance of architectural landmarks from their local environments.
The competition encourages participants to select any landmark from their city, town, or village, whether it represents monumental architecture or everyday structures, and whether it holds historic significance or represents contemporary design. Through short-form video content, contestants are asked to distill their chosen landmark's fundamental characteristics and reveal its deeper meaning within the urban or rural context where it exists.
Participants have complete creative freedom in their approach to storytelling and visual presentation. The competition welcomes any medium or combination of techniques, including graphics, photographs, archival footage, animation, text overlays, and sound design. This flexibility allows creators to develop unique narratives that best express their personal interpretation and understanding of their selected landmark.
The competition is free to enter, with a submission deadline set for November 3, 2025, at 11:59 PM. Interested participants can submit their entries through a dedicated online form provided by the organizers. The competition is being organized by Akshat Bhatt and represents part of Architecture Discipline's ongoing commitment to supporting emerging talent in the architectural community.
Winners will receive prizes worth INR 50,000, along with the opportunity to participate in an exclusive roundtable discussion with some of India's leading architects at the Architecture Discipline Studio. This unique opportunity provides winners with direct access to industry professionals and the chance to engage in meaningful dialogue about contemporary architectural practice and theory.
The organizers emphasize that the competition values original insight and creative storytelling above technical perfection, making it accessible to participants with varying levels of video production experience. This approach reflects the competition's goal of celebrating innovative thinking and fresh perspectives on architectural landmarks rather than focusing solely on professional-grade production values.
