The horror thriller film "Exhuma," alternatively titled "Pamyo" in Korean, has received an invitation to the Forum section of the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, as confirmed by the film's distributor, Showbox, on Thursday.
Directed by Jang Jae-hyun, "Exhuma" unfolds a gripping narrative centered around a group of shamans, a geomancer, and an undertaker involved in enigmatic events surrounding an exhumation process. The film features renowned actor Choi Min-sik from "Oldboy" (2003), along with Kim Go-eun, Yoo Hae-jin, and Lee Do-hyun. Scheduled to premiere in February, the film delves into the horror genre with a unique storyline.

The Forum section of the Berlin International Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing films that offer fresh perspectives, challenge conventional boundaries, and provide new interpretations of the world, as outlined by the festival's criteria.
Past films invited to the Forum section include director Bong Joon-ho’s "Snowpiercer" (2013) and director Kim Tae-yong’s “Late Autumn” (2010).
The festival's press office highlighted that "Exhuma" raises questions about class dynamics in a playfully subversive take on the horror genre, according to the film's introduction on the festival's official site.
Recently, the Berlin International Film Festival announced the inclusion of the action film "The Roundup: Punishment," the fourth installment in "The Outlaws" (2017) franchise, in the Special Gala category. Additionally, the animated film "Circle" by Jeong Yu-mi was invited for the Berlinale Shorts 2024 section earlier this week.
The 74th Berlin International Film Festival, also known as Berlinale, is scheduled to commence on Feb. 15 and conclude on Feb. 24.
