A hanbok created using IKEA’s iconic recycled shopping bags has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention for its originality and cultural significance.

The person who made the hanbok was Agnes, a Korean adoptee daughter who grew up in Sweden.

Having long harbored a desire to express her identity and experiences as an Asian living in Sweden, Agnes sought to visually articulate this duality.

As a result, she reinterpreted the traditional Korean hanbok by repurposing IKEA’s shopping bags—a symbol of modern Swedish identity.

The work was first unveiled at the MADE IN SWEDEN exhibition and received critical acclaim for its innovative concept and powerful exploration of cultural identity.
