A talented local artist is bringing new artistic beauty to Culligan Plaza through an impressive limestone sculpture project. Autumn Bildson from Black River has been working diligently on the unique sculpture, which was designed with valuable support from the Thunder Bay Arts Council.
The sculpture, crafted entirely from limestone, represents a collaborative effort between the artist and the regional arts organization. Bildson was photographed on Thursday as she continued her detailed work on the piece, demonstrating the hands-on craftsmanship required for such stone carving projects.
The Thunder Bay Arts Council's involvement in the project highlights the organization's commitment to supporting local artists and enhancing public spaces with meaningful artwork. This partnership enables artists like Bildson to create larger-scale works that benefit the entire community.
Limestone was chosen as the medium for this sculpture, a material known for its durability and classic appearance in outdoor installations. The stone's natural properties make it well-suited for public art pieces that must withstand various weather conditions while maintaining their aesthetic appeal.
Once completed, the sculpture will serve as a permanent addition to Culligan Plaza, providing visitors and residents with a new focal point for appreciation and reflection. The project represents the ongoing efforts to beautify public spaces and showcase local artistic talent within the community.
