The Civray Computer and Photography Association has made a significant change to its operations, deciding to discontinue its computer training activities that have been running since 2002 while continuing its photography programs under a new structure. The decision was announced during the association's general assembly meeting held on Monday, December 1, 2025.
The computer training branch of the association served the community for more than 20 years, at its peak attracting up to 50 members who wanted to become familiar with computer technology. However, as times changed and alternative sources of computer help became more widely available, the founding members of this activity - Irène and Jean-Paul Renoux, along with Roger Orvain - decided it was time to end this chapter of the association's work.
The photography section, which was established later than the computer training program, will continue operating independently under new bylaws while maintaining its current board of directors. Jacky Dupin and Jean-Paul Renoux, who serve as the current president and treasurer respectively, presented the new statutes for DClic Photo Civray during the meeting.
DClic Photo currently has 17 photographers who meet every Monday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 18 Salvador-Allende Street in a facility provided by the community of municipalities. The municipality of Civray also supports the club by lending the Margelle hall for exhibitions. The club's activities are diverse and engaging, with Monday sessions dedicated to photo presentations and critiques, software tutorials, viewing photographs from other clubs, and personal work on suggested themes.
The photography club maintains an active exhibition schedule, displaying their work annually and traveling to participate in other exhibitions. They also organize field trips and respond to specific community requests. Recently, ten photographers created a large-format exhibition in Genouillé, featuring 44 photographs measuring 120cm by 80cm that showcased the municipality from sometimes unusual and unexpected angles.
Plans for 2026 include returning to the same municipality for another exhibition, this time focusing on the theme "Agriculture and Farmers." The club will also participate in the Mauprévoir festival in August. The organization operates with healthy and balanced finances without requesting any subsidies from local authorities.
Members of the public can view the club's photographic work on their website at declicphotocivray.jimdofree.com, where the diverse range of their artistic endeavors is displayed for the community to enjoy.
