The Griffin Museum of Photography has launched its highly anticipated annual Photobook exhibition, which will run through September 28, 2025. This marks the 15th year of the prestigious exhibition that celebrates the unique art form of photobooks and their distinct contribution to contemporary photography.
The Griffin Museum has long recognized the critical importance of photobooks in the photography world. Unlike the aesthetic presentation found in traditional galleries, photobooks offer their own distinctive visual language that often lends itself to enhanced narrative qualities and more pronounced seriality compared to standard wall-mounted formats. This medium allows photographers to create immersive storytelling experiences that guide viewers through carefully curated sequences of images.
The 2025 exhibition was juried by two distinguished professionals in the field: Karen Davis, curator and co-owner of Davis Orton Gallery, and Crista Dix, Executive Director of the Griffin Museum. Their expertise brought together a diverse selection that represents the current state of photobook artistry. The exhibition will showcase 40 carefully selected photobooks at the Griffin Gallery and Library throughout the summer of 2025.
The featured artists represent a wide range of photographic styles and approaches, including works by Adrian Schaub, Andrew M K Warren, Brad Hamilton, Brandon Movall, Candice DiCarlo, Chantal Zakari, Conner Gordon, Courtney Johnson, David Rathbone, Diane Hemingway, Ellen Feldman, Fern Nesson, Gay Johnson, Geir Kate Jordahl, Greg DeLory, HillerbrandMagsamen, Irene Reti, James Collins, Jose Ney Mila Espinosa, and Joshua Deaner. Additional participating artists include Lisa Tang Liu & J. The Griffin Museum of Photography is located at 67 Shore Road, Winchester, Massachusetts 01890, and additional information about the exhibition can be found at their website.
