The Korean spy film "Harbin," featuring Hyun Bin, will premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September, the movie's distributor CJ ENM announced on Wednesday. The festival, which runs from September 5 to 15, has officially invited the film as part of its Gala Presentations category. This section of the festival showcases high-profile films, often featuring prominent international actors.
Set in 1909, "Harbin" tells the story of a suspenseful pursuit involving figures heading to Harbin in northern China for a mission. Central to the plot is the Korean independence activist Ahn Jung-geun (1879-1910), who assassinated Ito Hirobumi, Japan's first prime minister and resident-general of Korea, at Harbin Station. This historical event occurred just before Korea came under Japanese colonial rule from 1910 to 1945.
