In a captivating showdown at the box office, Japanese animation "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" emerged triumphant on its opening day, surpassing the long-reigning "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One."
Drawing an impressive 117,000 moviegoers on its debut day, "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" claimed the top spot, capturing a notable 27.9 percent share of ticket sales, as reported by the integrated computer network for movie theater ticket sales of the Korean Film Council.
"Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One," which had held the box office throne since its release on July 12, secured the second position with 103,000 moviegoers in attendance.
Pixar Studios' animated masterpiece "Elemental" secured a respectable third place, while "Barbie," starring Margot Robbie and Ryan, held the fourth spot.
Of particular significance, "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine" achieved a historic milestone by garnering the highest number of audiences on opening day among all the Detective Conan films released in Korea, a remarkable feat hailed by distributor CJ ENM.
The 26th installment in the beloved Detective Conan franchise, the animation is based on the manga created by Gosho Aoyama.
