The eagerly awaited film "Concrete Utopia," featuring acclaimed actor Lee Byung-hun, has received a coveted invitation to participate in the Òrbita competition section of the renowned Stiges Film Festival, as announced by the film's distributor Lotte Entertainment on Friday.

The prestigious Spanish film festival, known for its focus on fantasy, thriller, and horror genres, is scheduled to take place in Sitges, Catalonia, from October 5 to 15 this year.

The Òrbita section of the festival is dedicated to films that encompass genres teetering on the edge of the fantastical, such as thrillers, suspense, martial arts, action, and adventure. The winners are exclusively determined through votes submitted by the festival audience.

Over the years, several Korean films have been granted the honor of participation in the Stiges Film Festival, including acclaimed works like director Park Chan-wook's "Oldboy" (2003) and "Lady Vengeance" (2005), as well as Bong Joon-ho's masterpieces "The Host" (2006) and "Hunt" (2022), the latter of which was directed by and starred renowned actor Lee Jung-jae.

Additionally, "Concrete Utopia" has also been nominated for the Hawaii International Film Festival's Spotlight On Korea category.

Directed by Um Tae-hwa, the film's narrative unfolds in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that strikes Seoul, leaving the city in ruins. At the center of the story lies the sole apartment building that miraculously survives the disaster. The film features a star-studded cast, including the celebrated actors Park Seo-jun, Park Bo-young, and Lee Byung-hun.

"Concrete Utopia" is slated for release on August 9, promising audiences an enthralling cinematic experience of survival, hope, and human resilience amidst the ruins of a city.

As anticipation builds for the film's premiere, the invitation to the Òrbita competition section of the Stiges Film Festival further cements "Concrete Utopia" as a highly anticipated and promising addition to the world of cinema.
