Sixteen members of the Châtellerault Objectif Photo association are displaying their photographs in an annual exhibition at the Grange hall in Targé, located near Châtellerault. The exhibition, which opened with a well-attended opening reception on Friday, November 14, continues through Sunday, November 16, offering visitors a diverse collection of photographic works.
The Châtellerault Objectif Photo association, established in 1993, brings together approximately twenty members who meet regularly on the first and third Thursdays of each month, as well as the fourth Friday, at the Taupanne facility in Châtellerault. During these gatherings, members share information, receive advice, plan themed outings, and participate in photo critiques to improve their skills.
The Friday meetings focus specifically on technical aspects of photography, including introduction to photo editing, software training, shooting techniques, and studio sessions. Recently, the association had the opportunity to exhibit for a month at the Objethèque-café, invited by the Horizon-Sud Youth and Culture Center. This partnership could lead to future collaborative opportunities.
The association has operated under a collective presidency system for the past three years, allowing for complementary leadership and shared responsibilities among five co-presidents. This year, sixteen club members each selected an average of five photographs to display in the exhibition. The collection features a wide variety of styles and subjects, including black and white images, color photographs, sepia tones, landscapes, macro photography, bird photography, and still life compositions.
The exhibition showcases techniques ranging from simple to more complex approaches, ensuring there is something to appeal to all photographic sensibilities. Rather than following a specific theme or common thread, the exhibition is united by the bonds between association members and their shared passion for photography.
As an additional feature, visitors can visit the upper floor of the Grange hall, where they can sit and watch a slideshow featuring a comprehensive selection of photographs from association members that runs continuously. The association has also invited sculptor Didier Blanchard to display his works titled "Récup et suite" (Recovery and Continuation) as part of the exhibition.
The Châtellerault Objectif Photo exhibition is being held at the Grange hall in Targé, located at 93 Jacques Prévert Street. The final day of the exhibition, Sunday, November 16, runs from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The exhibition is open to all audiences and admission is free.
