Infinite Co.
In a momentous announcement that has sparked a surge of anticipation, K-pop sensation Infinite is gearing up for a highly-anticipated comeback as a full group this month, joining the flurry of veteran boy bands making their triumphant returns. Infinite Co., the band's agency, unveiled a captivating black and gold poster on Friday, heralding the long-awaited reunion of the six-member ensemble set to take place on July 31.
This highly anticipated comeback marks a significant milestone for Infinite, as it has been five years since the release of their last album, the critically acclaimed "Top Seed," which dropped in 2018. Notably, this will be the first time the group reunites since parting ways with their former agency, Woolim Entertainment, under which they made their debut in 2010.
The members of Infinite have been diligently preparing for this momentous occasion, establishing their own company, Infinite Co., earlier this year to continue their group activities. In a gesture that solidifies their unity, Woolim's CEO unconditionally transferred all trademark rights of Infinite to the members, ensuring a smooth transition and enabling them to stay together without any legal complications.
Leading the charge in their new management endeavor is band leader Kim Sung-kyu, who has taken on the role of the head of Infinite Co. Since 2018, the individual members of the group have been pursuing their own solo careers and fulfilling their military duties.
During this hiatus period, Kim Sung-kyu delighted fans with the release of his solo single "Small Talk" and held captivating concerts throughout Asia. Meanwhile, Lee Seong-jong made his solo debut in March with the release of his first single, "The One." Nam Woo-hyun recently concluded his successful solo fan-meeting tour across five cities in Asia, while Jang Dong-woo has been captivating audiences in the musical "Dream High."
Notably, members Lee Sung-yeol and L, also known as Kim Myung-soo in his acting endeavors, have found themselves cast together in MBC's highly-anticipated new drama "Numbers," with Kim taking on a lead role in the series. Despite their individual pursuits, the members have managed to stay connected over the past five years, organizing fan meetings and hosting online broadcasts together, providing solace and reassurance to their dedicated fan base.
On June 9, the six members joyously celebrated their remarkable 13th anniversary together, streaming the heartfelt event via YouTube for their adoring fans. During the live stream, the group expressed their aspirations of establishing their own company, a dream they had been discussing since the previous year. They emphasized that although they had never announced a disbandment, they felt a deep sense of remorse for keeping their fans waiting indefinitely, thus underscoring their commitment to Infinite's future by unveiling the establishment of Infinite Co.
Alongside their highly-anticipated comeback, Infinite is embarking on a global concert tour starting in August, marking their first full-group concert in seven years since their memorable "Summer Concert 3" in 2016. Aptly titled "Comeback Again," the tour will kick off in Seoul on August 19-20 at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park before traversing to Japan on August 27, Taiwan on September 2, and Macao on September 9.
Infinite, hailed as one of the iconic "second-generation" boy bands that emerged in the late 2000s and early 2010s, now joins the ranks of their peers who have recently made highly-anticipated comebacks. Just this week, Teen Top, another group with an impressive thirteen-year tenure, returned as a quartet with their new album "4Sho" after a three-year hiatus. Similarly, SHINee made a resounding comeback with their eighth studio album "Hard" last month, while Ukiss united their former and current members to release a special album commemorating their 15th anniversary.
