The Korea-Australia Arts Foundation (KAAF) has announced its 2025 Art Prize competition, marking the 12th year of this prestigious annual event. The competition aims to promote cultural diversity in Australia by bringing together artists from various cultural backgrounds and offering a substantial total prize pool of $35,000 in both acquisitive and non-acquisitive cash awards.
The KAAF Art Prize welcomes entries across various art forms, with a primary focus on two-dimensional works. This approach allows artists working in different mediums to showcase their talents while maintaining a cohesive exhibition format. The competition has established itself as a significant platform for multicultural artistic expression in Australia's contemporary art scene.
The Korean Cultural Centre Australia serves as the official venue partner for the event, hosting the exhibition of finalist artworks at its gallery space. The exhibition will run from November 21, 2025, through January 16, 2026, with viewing hours from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The gallery is located on the ground floor at 255 Elizabeth Street in Sydney, providing a central and accessible location for visitors.
This year's distinguished panel of judges includes prominent figures from Australia's art world. Mr. John McDonald, a renowned art critic, author, and publisher of the website "Everything the art world doesn't want you to know" (Everythingthe.com), will serve as one of the judges. Dr. Oliver Smith, a senior lecturer at the Sydney College of the Arts within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney, completes the judging panel, bringing academic expertise to the evaluation process.
The Korea-Australia Arts Foundation will announce the complete list of award winners and finalists on its official website at kaaf.org.au. Artists and art enthusiasts interested in learning more about the competition can visit the official KAAF website for detailed information about submission guidelines, eligibility requirements, and prize categories.
