After a hiatus of ten months, K-pop boy band Enhypen has returned with their highly anticipated new album, "Dark Blood." During a captivating comeback showcase held in Seoul on Monday, the seven-member group made a striking appearance on stage, clad in black suits that accentuated their already pale and handsome faces.

Despite the eerie aesthetics surrounding their latest album, "Dark Blood" is a sincere expression of Enhypen's heartfelt gratitude and love towards their loyal fans. The group, led by their member Sunghoon, acknowledged the overwhelming support and affection received from fans after the challenging period of the pandemic. The profound connection they felt with their fanbase, known as Engenes, is the driving force behind the album's concept—a story of appreciation from a boy to Engenes.

This release marks the end of Enhypen's longest hiatus to date, following their previous EP, "Manifesto: Day 1," released in July 2022. Reflecting on the past year, Enhypen's leader, Jungwon, shared, "It was a meaningful year for us. During our break, we embarked on our first world tour, attended various award ceremonies, and even participated in our first fashion show."

In January, Enhypen flew to Milan as the sole South Korean representatives invited to Prada's 2023 fall-winter male collection fashion show—an unprecedented achievement for a K-pop group. The group's momentum continued as they successfully concluded their inaugural world tour, "Manifesto," in February. Despite debuting amidst global lockdowns in September 2020, Enhypen managed to meet their fans through a global concert series, holding 22 shows across 13 cities in the US and Asia. Notably, they became the first fourth-generation K-pop group to hold a dome concert, a significant milestone in their career.

Jay, a member of Enhypen, shared how the world tour and their dome concert debut shaped their growth as performers, stating, "We learned about stage conduct, attitude, and performance through the tour. The world tour and our dome debut have encouraged us to take the next step." Integrating their yearlong experiences into their music, Enhypen embarked on a new series called the "Blood" series, which begins with their latest album, "Dark Blood." The group has previously released six albums under three series: "Border," "Dimension," and "Manifesto."

The title track of "Dark Blood," "Bite Me," is a captivating pop score that conveys a message about love and connection. The lyrics narrate the story of a boy who realizes the blood ties that bind him to another person. With Heeseung directing the vocal recording and Ni-Ki contributing to the choreography, the song showcases Enhypen's versatility and growth as artists. Heeseung expressed his satisfaction, saying, "The sound is unconventional for our group, and I attempted the recording from various angles. I'm happy that the song turned out well."

Alongside "Bite Me," the album comprises five other vampire-themed songs, including "Fate," "Sacrifice (Eat Me Up)," "Chaconne," "Bills," and "Karma." These tracks further demonstrate Enhypen's artistry and ability to captivate listeners with their diverse musical styles.
