South Korean viewers are abuzz with excitement as the second season of Netflix's gripping drama series, "D.P.," approaches. The original season has already made its mark, currently ranking No. 10 on Netflix's Korean top 10 chart for TV series as of Tuesday.
Adapted from a popular webtoon series by creator Kim Bo-tong, "D.P." delves into the lives of Pvt. Ahn Jun-ho (played by Jung Hae-in) and Cpl. Han Ho-yeol (portrayed by Koo Kyo-hwan) as they navigate the challenging task of capturing Army deserters.
Ahn Nam-hun, a 32-year-old marketer in Seoul, expressed his anticipation for the upcoming season, sharing his plans to binge-watch a few episodes after work. He mentioned that he enjoyed the first season of "D.P." in 2021 but felt the need to refresh his memory on important scenes and storylines before delving into the new episodes. Ahn highlighted the excitement surrounding the conclusion of the unfinished storylines, eagerly awaiting the resolution.
Kim Ki-young, a cafe owner in his 30s, echoed this sentiment, revealing that he recently revisited the series, considering it a prelude to the much-anticipated second season. Kim emphasized his enjoyment of both the TV drama and webtoon series, expressing enthusiasm for the introduction of new characters in the upcoming season that were not part of the original webtoon.
Even viewers who typically shy away from action-packed series found themselves drawn to "D.P." One 30-year-old housewife, surnamed Park, shared that she initially hesitated due to the intense action and gunfights but was convinced by friends who lauded the series for its depth beyond mere combat. Intrigued by their recommendations, Park plans to catch up on the existing episodes before the release of the second season.
The second season of "D.P." is set to exclusively premiere on Netflix on July 28, continuing the captivating storyline that has captivated viewers with its compelling characters and intricate narrative. As fans eagerly await the return of this iconic Korean original, expectations are high for another round of thrilling storytelling that transcends the boundaries of a traditional military drama.
