In a captivating display of supernatural prowess and mind-bending abilities, Korean superheroes have stormed onto the television drama scene, captivating audiences with their telepathic talents and extraordinary powers.

Kicking off the summer superhero showdown is cable channel tvN, presenting the second season of the fantasy action series "The Uncanny Counter," following its initial debut in 2020.

At the heart of the series is high school student So-mun, whose journey takes an unexpected turn as he joins a league of "counters" dedicated to tracking down and vanquishing malevolent spirits preying on humanity. Concealing their remarkable capabilities, these counters ingeniously masquerade as employees in a noodle restaurant.

From the realms of mind reading to body augmentation and psychokinesis, the intense and electrifying conflict between counters and malevolent spirits in "The Uncanny Counter" has viewers on the edge of their seats, fueling a demand for action-packed, superpower-infused narratives.

In a stunning achievement, the series claimed the top spot on Netflix's TV charts in 13 regions, including Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia, immediately following its July 29 premiere. As of Monday, the second season of "The Uncanny Counter" has landed at No. 10 on the global Netflix chart, as reported by streaming analytics firm FlixPatrol.

Local streaming platform Tving reported a substantial surge in paid subscribers, attributing this boost to the premiere of the action-packed series.

In tandem with the superhero fervor, Disney+ entered the scene with its own action hero series, "Moving," which premiered on August 9.

Derived from the webtoon by acclaimed artist Kang Pool, "Moving" follows a group of high school students blessed with supernatural gifts, as well as their parents. The intrigue lies in their seemingly ordinary appearance, devoid of special suits or weapons, while harboring astonishing abilities like instant recovery from grave injuries, flight, heightened senses, and electricity generation.

Set against the backdrop of a new generation inheriting extraordinary powers, "Moving" delves into the parental struggles to shield their children from concealed adversaries seeking to exploit their gifts. To tantalize fans of the original webtoon, the series introduces fresh characters like Frank and Gye-do, enhancing the storyline's allure.

The series unfolds with seven episodes of its 20-part saga already released, with subsequent episodes slated to premiere exclusively on Disney+ every Wednesday.

Meanwhile, JTBC contributes to the superhero fervor with their latest romantic comedy series "Behind Your Touch," revolving around Bong Ye-bun, a veterinarian endowed with the gift of psychometry, allowing her to glean insights from people or animals through physical contact.

To ensure broader accessibility, JTBC's 16-episode marvel is also available for streaming on Tving and Netflix, catering to the diverse preferences of a global audience eager to embrace the allure of Korean superheroes.
