A unique horror film event combining international cinema screenings with cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology will take place at the Korean Cultural Center in Abu Dhabi. Creative Film Nights is hosting a special horror-themed edition featuring three short films from Korean and Emirati filmmakers, alongside an innovative workshop on AI video generation techniques.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Korean Cultural Center Hall, located on Floor P2 of Tower 4 at Yas Creative Hub in Abu Dhabi. The evening promises to bring together regional and international filmmakers in an environment designed to inspire creative exploration of thriller elements in cinematic storytelling.
Three compelling short films will be featured during the screening portion of the event. The first Korean entry, "Vortex," directed by Jaewoo Jang, tells the story of Yoon-seok, who cares for his sick mother while his father works at sea. Plagued by disturbing thoughts about his parents, Yoon-seok encounters a mysterious girl dragging stones along the seaside, setting up an eerie narrative that explores family dynamics and psychological tension.
The second Korean film, "My House," directed by Ji Nam-churl, follows Yeoreum as she returns home and becomes increasingly anxious about text messages from her husband. As her paranoia intensifies throughout the day, her own home transforms from a place of comfort into a suffocating prison by nightfall, creating a claustrophobic atmosphere that builds psychological horror.
Completing the film lineup is "Hammer," an Arab Film Studio production directed by Abdulla Alneyadi, an alumnus of the Arab Film Studio program. This dark satirical short film centers on Ehab, an idealistic employee who dares to challenge the conformist culture within an oppressive institutional setting. The narrative explores themes of innocence and consequence as Ehab discovers the dangerous price of standing against established norms.
Following the film screenings, attendees will participate in a hands-on workshop titled "Scene Superimposition and AI Video Generation," presented by Digital Qube Company. The workshop will be led by two experienced mentors: Rosie Seldon, who serves as CEO of Digital Qube and works as an AI trainer, and Dania Kidwai, a creative AI trainer specializing in multimedia applications.
Participants in the workshop will learn advanced techniques for enhancing dark, cinematic scenes through the strategic superimposition of actors or objects into existing footage. Additionally, they will discover methods for transforming static images into dynamic, suspenseful horror video clips using state-of-the-art artificial intelligence techniques, providing practical skills that can be applied to future filmmaking projects.
Organizers have issued an important advisory regarding the event's content, emphasizing that due to the presence of horror scenes and mature themes throughout the films, the screening is not appropriate for children. The evening is designed to provide adult audiences with both entertainment and educational opportunities in the evolving landscape of horror filmmaking and AI-assisted video production.
