Incheon, South Korea, is gearing up for a wave of rock nostalgia this August as the highly anticipated annual Pentaport festival returns with an impressive lineup of legendary names. Taking place from August 4 to 6 at Moonlight Festival Park in the Songdo district, the 2023 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival promises three days of electrifying performances.
The festival kicks off with a bang as Japanese punk rockers Ellegarden take the stage on the first day. After a 16-year hiatus, Ellegarden recently made a triumphant comeback with a reunion album and a national tour in Japan. Joining them will be 16 other leading acts representing various rock genres, including Kim Yoon-ah of Jaurim, Chang Kiha of Kiha & The Faces, No Brain, the Volunteers, Loren, and George.
Day two brings a legendary American rock band back to Pentaport as the Strokes take the headlining spot. The group's return to the festival marks their second appearance since their inaugural gig at Pentaport in 2006. The day's lineup features an additional 15 performers, including the Black Skirt, Ride, Method, Silica Gel, Lee Seung-yoon, Jambina, and 250.
The final day of the festival will be led by Kim Chang-wan Band, fronted by veteran rocker and actor Kim Chang-wan. Joining them will be 14 other popular singers and bands, such as Se So Neon, Ginger Root, Cherry Filter, Kwon Jin-ah, Nerd Connection, Damons Year, Leenalchi, and Car the Garden.
The festival will also showcase international talent, including Kirinji, Otoboke Beaver, Hitsujibungaku, and Wendy Wander.
With a schedule running from day to midnight, Pentaport will feature performances on four stages: KB Kookmin Card Starship stage, Incheon Airport stage, Musinsa stage, and Midnight stage.
Celebrating its 18th year, Pentaport, organized by the Incheon Metropolitan Government, has grown into one of Korea's largest summer music festivals and is credited with igniting the country's large-scale music festival scene. After transitioning to online events for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival returned to its in-person format last summer.
Expressing gratitude for the audience's unwavering support, the festival organizer stated, "We are committed to delivering another epic stage this summer." Additional details about the event can be found on the official website and social media channels.
