Choi Yena, a familiar face in the K-pop landscape and former member of the acclaimed girl group Iz*One, is set to captivate Japanese audiences with her inaugural single "Smiley -- Japanese Ver. (Feat. Chammina)." The announcement was made by her agency, Yue Hua Entertainment, on Monday, heralding a significant step in her artistic journey.
The forthcoming single is a Japanese-language rendition of Choi Yena's solo track "Smiley," which originally served as the lead single for her debut solo EP bearing the same title, released last year. Notably, she has teamed up with esteemed Japanese rapper Chammina to lend a unique flavor to the upcoming release, a departure from the original version which featured Bibi.
Scheduled to be unveiled on August 9, the single album will also showcase a captivating B-side track titled "Deja vu." In a celebratory prelude to her official Japanese debut, Choi Yena is set to host a showcase in Tokyo, providing a glimpse into her evolving musical artistry.
Having already garnered a devoted following in Japan due to her involvement in Iz*One, a project group that concluded its journey in April 2021 after a successful 2 1/2-year run, Choi Yena's transition into the Japanese music scene is eagerly awaited by her loyal fans.
As anticipation mounts for the release of "Smiley -- Japanese Ver. (Feat. Chammina)," Choi Yena's expanding fanbase and music enthusiasts worldwide anticipate a thrilling new chapter in her artistic odyssey, further solidifying her position as a versatile and impactful artist.
