K-pop boy band Enhypen is set to make their first appearance on MBC's "Show! Music Core" since their debut in 2020, marking the end of a years-long dispute between their agency, Hybe, and the broadcaster.

While Enhypen has been featured on various local music shows like KBS' "Music Bank" and SBS' "Inkigayo," they, along with other Hybe artists, have been unable to perform on MBC programs since a disagreement over a BTS performance in 2019. The entertainment agency had a strained relationship with the broadcaster since that time.

On Monday, MBC announced the news after signing a memorandum of understanding with Hybe, aiming to establish a healthy content production environment that safeguards the rights and interests of K-pop stars.

An MBC official expressed a warm welcome to Enhypen's appearance on "Show! Music Core" and anticipated further collaboration with Hybe artists in entertainment, reality shows, and other TV programs.

The conflict between Hybe and MBC stemmed from their disagreement over BTS' performance in the 2019 Gayo Daejejeon, MBC's annual year-end music show program.

BTS was scheduled to perform live in New York City's Times Square on New Year's Eve for the countdown, and Hybe proposed a pre-recorded performance for Gayo Daejejeon taking place in Seoul on the same day. MBC declined the proposal, leading Hybe to withdraw Tomorrow X Together and GFriend, their artists, from that year's Gayo Daejejeon lineup.

No Hybe artists had participated in MBC music programs since then, especially those who debuted after 2019, like Enhypen, Le Sserafim, and NewJeans.

Under the memorandum signed on Monday, MBC agreed to eliminate abusive practices, such as pressuring artists to take part in awards ceremonies and TV programs, making unilateral requests to change production schedules, and altering artists' media engagements without mutual agreement.

MBC President Ahn Hyung-joon expressed the desire to create a mutually beneficial partnership to enhance the quality of Korean content and K-pop music.

MBC will concentrate on establishing a healthy content production environment that safeguards the rights and interests of K-pop stars. The broadcaster will also work to increase public awareness about creative industry workers, according to a statement from MBC.

The memorandum was signed a week after Bang Si-hyuk, the founder and chairman of Hybe, visited MBC headquarters in Sangam-dong, western Seoul, on October 30.

Hybe CEO Park Ji-won expressed gratitude to the broadcaster and expressed hope for a forward-looking relationship with MBC.

The upcoming "Show! Music Core" featuring Enhypen's stage performance is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. on November 18.
