The breakout hit "Golden" from Netflix's animated film "Kpop Demon Hunters" has dropped from its commanding number one position to second place on the British Official Singles Chart Top 100. The song, which had maintained its grip on the top spot for an impressive 10 non-consecutive weeks, was overtaken by Taylor Swift's latest release "The Fate of Ophelia" according to the chart released Friday in British time.
"Golden" is performed by Korean American artists Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who voice the fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x in the Netflix animated series. The track has demonstrated remarkable staying power on the charts, remaining in the Top 100 for 21 consecutive weeks since its debut at number 93 back in June. This impressive chart performance has solidified the song's status as one of the year's most unexpected crossover successes.
The soundtrack from "Kpop Demon Hunters" continues to dominate multiple chart positions, showcasing the growing influence of K-pop-inspired content in mainstream Western music. "How It's Done," another track from the animated film's soundtrack, currently holds the 10th position on the chart. Meanwhile, "What It Sounds Like," also from the same soundtrack, has secured the 14th spot, demonstrating the broad appeal of the series' musical offerings.
Other K-pop acts are also maintaining their presence on the British charts. The collaborative single "APT." by BLACKPINK's Rosé and global superstar Bruno Mars has reached its 56th consecutive week on the chart, currently sitting at number 86. This longevity speaks to the sustained international appeal of K-pop collaborations with Western artists.
Additionally, the popular K-pop girl group Le Sserafim has made their mark on the current chart with their new release "Spaghetti," which has entered at number 95. This latest entry continues to demonstrate the consistent commercial viability of K-pop acts in the competitive British music market, reflecting the genre's expanding global footprint and cross-cultural appeal.
