Seoul will once again serve as the epicenter of Asia's broadcast content industry when it hosts BroadCast Worldwide (BCWW), the continent's largest marketing event for broadcast video content, next month. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that this year's expo will take place from September 16-19 at COEX Mall in Seoul's Gangnam District, marking a significant milestone as the event celebrates its 25th consecutive year.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will jointly organize the prestigious event with the Korea Creative Content Agency, continuing a partnership that has established BCWW as Asia's premier platform for the over-the-top (OTT) market. The expo serves as a crucial channel for both domestic and international video industry professionals to exchange information and has become instrumental in supporting the export of Korean content worldwide.
Last year's event demonstrated the expo's growing international significance, attracting approximately 10,000 attendees from 30 countries around the globe. The 2024 edition resulted in substantial business outcomes, with export deals worth $86.24 million (approximately 119.7 billion Korean won) concluded during the four-day event, underscoring the commercial importance of this annual gathering.
This year's BCWW will operate under the compelling theme "Window to What's Next," reflecting the industry's forward-looking approach to content creation and distribution. The event will provide comprehensive support for content and platform exhibitions, live demonstrations, and crucial business consultations connecting production companies, international buyers, and investors from across the entertainment industry.
In a special recognition of diplomatic relations, France has been designated as this year's guest country of honor, commemorating the upcoming 140th anniversary of bilateral ties between France and Korea in 2026. Distinguished representatives from the French National Centre of Cinema, along with executives from French OTT platforms, cinema, and animation sectors, will participate in the festivities and business proceedings.
The public will have access to the "K-OTT" promotional pavilion, where major domestic streaming platforms including Coupang Play and Tving will showcase their extensive content libraries and preview exciting new works scheduled for release in the second half of 2025. This pavilion represents a unique opportunity for consumers to get an insider's look at the future of Korean streaming content.
