After a much-anticipated hiatus of 20 months, the renowned girl group Everglow has reemerged onto the music scene with an electrifying fourth single, "All My Girls," marking their triumphant return to the spotlight. The six-member ensemble, comprised of E:U, Sihyeon, Mia, Onda, Aisha, and Yiren, showcased their renewed vigor during a press showcase held in Seoul on Friday. Through their new single, the group sets forth their collective voice as a beacon for girls worldwide, unflinchingly declaring their commitment to forging individual paths.

At the press event, the group treated the audience to a live performance of the lead track from their single package, "Slay." According to Sihyeon, the group's leader, the song's message is one of liberation for young women, encouraging them to break free from external constraints and follow their heart's desires. "Slay," a pulsating electronic hip-hop composition, boasts an irresistible melody harmonized with commanding drum beats, encapsulating Everglow's artistic evolution.

Selecting "Slay" was no hasty decision, shared Aisha, the group's lead rapper. The meticulous process spanned over a year and eight months, during which the members painstakingly evaluated countless compositions. Aisha emphasized the importance of perfection, considering their prolonged absence from the music scene and their desire to exhibit substantial growth.

The single not only features the titular track but also includes two additional pieces: "Oh Ma Ma God," a mid-tempo R&B pop song, and "Make Me Feel," a soulful amalgamation of acoustic and synthetic sounds.

Since their debut under Yue Hwa Entertainment in March 2019, Everglow swiftly garnered an international following due to their dynamic performance-oriented music and explosive on-stage charisma. Notable hits like "Adios" and "Dun Dun" solidified their reputation, culminating in the release of "Pirate" in December 2021, which preceded their unexpected hiatus.

While the reasons behind their extended absence were not extensively discussed, the members hinted at the complexity of their hiatus. "We wanted to ensure that our return met the expectations of our fans," Sihyeon explained. The burdens of sustaining a rigorous diet regimen for all members and the pressure to deliver a remarkable comeback had contributed to the extended break.

During the hiatus, the group faced moments of insecurity and doubt about their future, as admitted by Sihyeon. The elongated period of inactivity took a toll, prompting self-reflection and perseverance. "All we could do was just strive harder and hone ourselves to make it worthwhile," remarked E:U.

Sihyun also confessed to grappling with self-doubt as the comeback date continued to be postponed. "It was a difficult time. It was unbelievable that we were coming back even until yesterday. I couldn't sleep properly last night," she revealed.

In closing the event, the group's leader encapsulated their collective aspiration with "All My Girls": "We hope to show that Everglow is a group that shines the brightest on the stage and is best with performances. We hope to go more global and make sure our name gets remembered by more people."

As Everglow steps back into the limelight with "All My Girls," their fervent resurgence signals not only a remarkable musical comeback but also a dedication to championing empowerment and resilience for young women worldwide.
