Jungkook, a member of the globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, continues to break records on Billboard's prestigious global charts, further solidifying his position as a musical force to be reckoned with. As he gears up for his highly anticipated solo debut this month, the young artist's collaborations and solo tracks dominate the charts, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry.
According to Billboard's latest chart release on Saturday, "Left And Right," a collaboration between Jungkook and Charlie Puth, reached No. 179 on the Billboard Global US Exclusive chart. This remarkable feat marks the song's 38th week on the chart, extending Jungkook's own record as the individual K-pop singer with the longest streak on the song chart.
In addition to his collaborative successes, Jungkook recently renewed his record on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart with his solo track "Euphoria." The song, originally released in 2018, resurfaced on the chart last week, climbing to an impressive No. 6 position. "Euphoria" solidified its status as the longest-charting song by a K-pop soloist on the Digital Song Sales chart, showcasing Jungkook's enduring popularity.
The resurgence of Jungkook's songs on the global charts follows rumors of an impending solo release in July. On Friday, Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS, confirmed that Jungkook will release his first official solo single, titled "Seven," on July 14, marking a significant milestone in his career as a solo musician.
Big Hit Music unveiled the promotion schedule for "Seven" on Sunday, revealing that Jungkook will officially release his self-written songs "Still With You" and "My You" on global music platforms on July 3. These two songs were previously available for free on SoundCloud in 2020 and 2022, respectively.
According to the timeline, the music video for "Seven" will premiere at 1 p.m. on July 14, coinciding with the release of the song. While rumors circulated that actress Han So-hee may appear in the music video, Big Hit Music declined to comment on the matter, maintaining an air of intrigue surrounding the highly anticipated visual accompaniment.
During a livestream broadcast with fans on Friday, following the agency's announcement, Jungkook expressed his excitement about his solo debut, assuring fans that a solo album is also in the works. The singer shared, "I've worked hard to showcase the direction of my music, my unique style, and vocal abilities that I haven't been able to fully explore before with this song. So, please don't be disappointed that it's a single. I'm also working on an album."
Jungkook's ability to achieve musical success independently of the rest of BTS has been evident for some time. Prior to his collaboration with Charlie Puth on "Left And Right," which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, he made his mark on the same chart with "Stay Alive," a soundtrack for BTS' web-comic series "7 Fates: Chakho." In 2020, under BTS' name, he also entered the Hot 100 with his solo track "My Time" from the group's seventh album, "Map of the Soul: 7."
