Acclaimed South Korean actor Jung Woo-sung is set to make his directorial debut with the action-packed thriller "A Man of Reason," promising a fresh take on a familiar storyline. Known for his memorable roles in films such as "Beat" (1997), "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" (2008), and "Hunt" (2022), Jung steps behind the camera to deliver an enthralling narrative centered around a retired assassin forced to confront his violent past.

During a recent press conference for the film, Jung revealed that the idea for "A Man of Reason" originated from film producer Song Dae-chan, who initially approached him to play the lead role in the action flick. However, when the director assigned to the project stepped away due to personal reasons, Jung took the opportunity to seize the reins and direct the film himself.

As a filmmaker, Jung aimed to infuse the classic action genre with his own cinematic twist, resulting in a character-driven and gripping tale. The lead cast features renowned actors Kim Nam-gil, Park Sung-woong, and Kim Jun-han, each delivering powerful performances that add depth and intensity to the story.

The plot follows Su-hyuk (played by Jung), a man seeking redemption after serving 10 years in prison on behalf of his former boss. Determined to break free from his dark past and lead a normal life, Su-hyuk's plans are shattered when his old boss, Eung-bok (played by Park), hires a notorious hitman named Woo-jin (portrayed by Kim Nam-gil). The dangerous assassin takes Su-hyuk's young daughter hostage, dragging him back into a world of violence and revenge.

Kim Nam-gil, in his role as hitman Woo-jin, expressed the pressure of collaborating with Jung, given the director's extensive knowledge of acting. However, he praised Jung's directorial style, emphasizing his clarity and understanding in guiding the actors.

For Jung Woo-sung, this project holds deep significance as he showcases his film at various international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Sitges Film Festival, and Hawaii International Film Festival. While appreciative of the global recognition, the actor-director eagerly anticipates sharing "A Man of Reason" with Korean audiences, eager to gauge their thoughts and reactions to his directorial endeavor.

"A Man of Reason" is slated for a domestic release on August 15, promising audiences a thrilling journey into the world of revenge, redemption, and untold secrets, under Jung Woo-sung's skillful direction.
