BTS: Beyond the Story," the forthcoming book from K-pop sensation BTS, is making waves in South Korea even before its official release on July 9. The book immediately ascended to the top of the best-selling books chart on leading online stores Yes24 and Aladin, maintaining its No.1 position since pre-orders commenced on June 15.
In a testament to the band's immense popularity, one of the country's largest bookstore chains, Kyobo Book Centre, established a separate "BTS" section on its official website. The book is currently holding the No.12 spot on Kyobo's best-selling books chart. Exclusive offerings such as photo cards and a gift set are being provided to purchasers as a special promotional event.
"Beyond the Story" was unveiled as part of the ongoing "2023 BTS Festa," a celebratory event marking the 10th debut anniversary of BTS, arguably the most significant boy band in K-pop history. The anniversary fell on June 13, and the celebrations commenced last week.
The much-anticipated book centers around a series of interviews conducted with the seven members over the last few years. These intimate conversations delve into the group's journey and the relentless efforts they undertook to become the global icons they are today.
Further fueling anticipation, BigHit Music, the band's agency, teased fans on Wednesday by revealing short excerpts from the band members' interviews, included in the book.
In an innovative attempt to create an immersive experience, the book also features 330 QR codes. Readers can scan these codes to access videos and songs, allowing them a deeper engagement with the content and offering an interactive reading experience that truly goes "beyond the story."
The book is slated for worldwide release on July 9 in a total of 23 languages. The date holds significant meaning for the band's fandom, known as the ARMY, as it was on this day in 2013 that the official fan club was named. Fans often refer to July 9 as "ARMY Day," a day dedicated to the millions of BTS supporters around the globe.
This upcoming release underlines the profound influence BTS continues to wield in the global music landscape and further cements their cultural significance. The rapid ascent of "Beyond the Story" on pre-sale charts is a testament to the band's enduring appeal and the anticipation surrounding their every move.
