K-pop sensation G-Dragon, real name Kwon Ji-yong, has unequivocally denied allegations of illegal drug use, as conveyed through a statement issued by his attorney on Friday.

In the statement, G-Dragon refuted the claims outright, asserting, "First of all, I have not taken any drugs." He also emphasized that he is not connected to the ongoing drug use act violation case reported in recent news, while expressing his intention to fully cooperate with the police investigation, stating, "However, as many people are worried, I will fully cooperate and do the best I can in the police investigation."

On Wednesday, Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency reportedly booked G-Dragon without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. These allegations surfaced in the context of a police operation targeting an illegal drug distribution network in the Gangnam area. Actor Lee Sun-kyun, an Academy Award-winning star known for his role in "Parasite," was also indicted for a drug offense related to the same network. The police have clarified that G-Dragon and Lee are not directly implicated in the same case, and investigations are being conducted separately.

Reports also indicate that a doctor who allegedly supplied unspecified illicit substances to both Kwon and Lee without charge has been booked without detention.

Notably, G-Dragon, formerly a member of the renowned K-pop group Big Bang, was previously involved in a drug use case in 2011, where he was suspected of marijuana use. The case was ultimately closed with a suspension of indictment by prosecutors.

In earlier developments this year, G-Dragon had announced his intentions to make a comeback under YG Entertainment, although the plans have seemingly been indefinitely postponed for undisclosed reasons. YG Entertainment, the company with which G-Dragon was once contracted, declined to comment on the recent police indictment, as the artist is no longer associated with the organization.
