With a blend of nerves and composure, eight exceptionally talented young boys took the stage to unveil themselves as the newest sensation in the world of K-pop, LUN8.
During a press conference held in Seoul on Thursday, Jinsu, the leader of LUN8, expressed the group's excitement and dedication, stating, "This is our first time on a stage. It required immense effort and patience to create an album that showcases only our voices. We are committed to delivering outstanding performances that will leave a lasting impression of LUN8 on the public."
Hailing from Fantagio Entertainment, the agency known for housing the acclaimed boy group Astro, these rookies embarked on their journey as K-pop artists with their debut mini album titled "Continue?"
LUN8 comprises eight members: Chael, Jinsu, Takuma, Junwoo, Dohyun, Ian, Eunho, and Eunseop. Explaining the group's name, Junwoo shared, "Our group's name signifies our desire to be companions to the public, much like the moon is to Earth. Just as the moon illuminates the dark night, we hope to brighten the lives of our fans."
Their first EP features a total of five tracks, with two title tracks leading the way: "Voyager" and "Wild Heart."
Dohyun highlighted the album's message, stating, "The essence of this album is that we will never give up and will continually challenge ourselves. We want our listeners to become our allies and accompany us on this journey of becoming successful artists."
For their debut EP, LUN8 aimed to showcase their versatility by presenting two title tracks under different concepts. Eunho described "Wild Heart" as a catchy pop rock song with whistle sounds and rhythmic drums, emphasizing the group's energy and confidence. The highlight dance move for this track involved a whistleblowing gesture, as pointed out by Junwoo, Ian, and Takuma.
Ian, who had previously participated in Mnet's 2020 survival show "I-Land," shared his thoughts on the pressure to prove his growth over the past three years. "I felt the weight of the expectation to demonstrate my improvement to people. However, this pressure motivated me to practice even harder, ultimately helping me prepare better for our debut," said Ian.
During the press conference, LUN8 captivated the audience with live performances of their title tracks, showcasing not only their impressive dance skills but also their exceptional vocal talents.
Eunseop highlighted their vocal prowess, stating, "Our voices are our greatest strength. Each of us possesses a unique vocal color that enriches a song and allows us to explore diverse genres."
LUN8 marks Fantagio Entertainment's first boy group in seven years since the debut of Astro, further emphasizing the significance of their debut. Looking ahead, the group expressed their aspirations to remain in the industry for as long as possible, with Junwoo stating, "Our goal is to enjoy what we do."
As LUN8 graces the K-pop scene with their undeniable talent and ambition, their debut mini album "Continue?" serves as a promising introduction to their artistry. With their distinct voices, captivating performances, and Fantagio's backing, this emerging boy band has set their sights on leaving a lasting impact on the global music stage.
